Linen khaki suit

What is linen?

Linen is a natural fiber from the plant called flax. The natural fibers allow the air to circulate which makes linen a very breathable fabric. Although the fabric is very light, linen is a very strong and durable fiber that can be worn summer after summer. Our linen khaki suit is a perfect example of that. The main characteristics of linen are its matt finish and the fact that it wrinkles easily, and therefore, it has a natural casual approach. Linen can also be produced in blends. When linen is combined with other materials it contributes to the breathable aspect but together with wool (for example) the fabric softens up which makes it wrinkle less.

How to wear the khaki suit

The beautiful earthy tone of this khaki suit is easy to combine with different colors and fabrics during summer. It also contributes to great versatility since you can wear both the jacket and trousers as separates.
Combine the suit, or just the trousers, with our beige linen shirt for a casual, yet elegant look. For a more formal look, we recommend wearing the suit with a crisp white royal oxford shirt, a textured tie in sand color, and match with a pair of brown penny loafers. The khaki suit, and this look, is a great look for summer weddings or other events that occur during warmer conditions. Thanks to the heavier linen fabric, the suit can easily be used in early and late summer as well without being too cold.

Linen fabrics usually tend towards a more informal approach due to the matte finish and wrinkles that define the entire piece. This specific linen quality gives a bit more luster and because of the heavier fabric, you also get a very beautiful drape. With that said you can also wear this khaki suit for a more formal event if you wish. Wear the jacket with a beige one piece collar shirt and off white trousers for a casual, yet elegant look. You can also combine the jacket with a pair of mid-blue denim jeans and an off-white cashmere/ silk knitwear piece underneath for an even more casual look.

Design options

It is the level of formality that will determine how versatile the suit is, and you can actually adjust that level by making certain design choices. It is, of course, a matter of personal preferences but we always recommend that you think about what type of occasions you want to be able to wear the suit before choosing the design.

You will achieve the most versatile jacket if you choose a 2,5 button notch wide lapel and this is a great choice both for the full suit and also if you want to be able to wear the jacket separately. The double-breasted option is more of a statement but when styled correctly it is an amazing piece.

Our go-to at Blugiallo is the unconstructed shoulder and especially for this type of fabric. When it comes to pockets the patch round is the most casual one and it works great for a separate jacket but tends to become too casual for a full suit. If you want to play it safe and be able to use the jacket from the khaki suit in several outfits we definitely recommend the jet pocket. Thanks to the clean look you can easily wear it both as a full suit and a separate jacket.
The side adjuster is a great design option for your linen trousers both for aesthetic and practical reasons. They contribute to a tailored feeling and keeps a clean look. Another sartorial detail is the pleat and if you are going for a higher waist of your trouser a single pleat is a great choice.
Whether you are choosing a cuff or not is (like most design options) primarily a matter of taste. A cuff tends to create a more casual feeling to the trouser while a straight finish is more formal.

The Mill

Italian mills are significant for Blugiallo, but that doesn’t exclude us from working with other mills that we also love. Dugdale Bros & Co is an Irish mill grounded in 1896. Dugdale is known for producing high quality and one of Blugiallo’s main suppliers when it comes to linen.
