The dark brown flannel suit in a fabric selected for its rich texture and soft feel. Sourced from the Italian mill Vitale Barberis Canonico, the fabric weight of 280gr  makes it more suitable for wear during the autumn and spring, as well as the winter. The jacket pairs well with a piece of fine cashmere knitwear and a pair of odd trousers. Pair well, as seen, with a piece of fine sand cashmere/silk knitwear. Complete the outfit with matching trousers for wearing as separate or as a full suit. The flannel jacket is a must have in any modern man’s wardrobe, and this brown one is no exception. Our Perpetual collection is best described as your ‘go-to pieces’ or wardrobe staples. This does not mean the products and fabrics are any less exclusive, on the contrary – an exclusive fabric, to us, is one that truly serves a purpose and manages to withstand the test of time.

 TAKE CARE OF YOUR GARMENT:

  • Use a proper hanger. A good hanger will retain its shape.
  • Let your garment rest – preferably 24 hours after wearing

  1. Simon Karlsson

Rekommenderar starkt!

Dark brown suit in flannel

Flannel suits have been a clear choice for many men for decades and by all rights, the softness of the flannel fabric, combined with its versatility makes the flannel suit a favorite. As formality tends to decrease it opens opportunities to widen your wardrobe from just blue and grey garments and this is where the dark brown flannel suit takes an obvious place. A dark brown suit in general, and dark brown flannel especially, will take your style to the next level.

When to wear it

Different aspects may affect if wearing a dark brown flannel suit is suited or not. Formality and seasonality are probably the two main ones. Consider our words more as guidance rather than rules since every person and situation are unique. But a custom made dark brown suit will, for sure, have you covered for both casual and semi-formal occasions since it is a great suit as a whole but also easy to combine as separates.

Formality – A dark brown suit will cover a quite wide range of formal occasions. Thanks to the dark color tone you can easily wear it for formal occasions and look impeccable. As with all flannel suits, you can break it up and wear the jacket and trousers as separates. The dark brown suit is not an exception. Depending on the context and how you style it, the dark brown suit will handle the transition from casual to formal really well.

Seasons – A dark brown flannel suit is best worn during fall, winter, and spring. Due to its brushed surface, it is suited when it is slightly colder outside. Some people tend to be afraid that flannel is too warm to wear other than during winter which is a false assumption. Flannel does not necessarily mean it is warm, it all depends on the thickness of the fabric.

As you may have guessed (our name may have exposed us) we like to be inspired by the Italians and therefore we love to work with Italian fabrics. A flannel fabric from an Italian mill is rarely too heavy and can therefore be worn during a longer period of the year. A British flannel fabric on the other hand tends to be heavier, i.e., warmer and more rigid.

The Fabric

Men’s brown suits might be a tricky category at first glance, but do not worry, we are here to guide you in the right direction. Even though a dark brown suit is not as classic as a blue or grey one, it is still a classic choice. If you feel comfortable in wearing a navy suit, we are quite comfortable you will enjoy a dark brown suit as well. The key is choosing a dark enough tone.

Combining a dark brown color tone and the flannel fabric will make it even easier. A brown suit for men, in general, is easy to match, and a flannel one even more. In addition, the softness of the flannel fabric creates a suit that is comfortable to wear all day at the office.

As we mentioned earlier most of our flannel fabrics come from Italian mills. This contributes to a comfortable suit with a soft drape that you can wear during several seasons of the year. Keep in mind that flannel is a finish (a brushed surface) that comes in both different materials and weights.

The Fit

The perfect fit will give you the confidence you need to handle any challenge. What a perfect fit means is, of course, subjective. Even within the Blugiallo team, the opinions may differ. For a men’s brown suit, we recommend going for a classic and timeless cut which means a slightly more generous fit.

When going for a bit of a wider fit for your dark brown suit you will have enough room for comfort and a nice drape. This will also increase the lifespan of your garments since you will not stress the fabric in the same way as with a slimmer fit. Our goal is always to produce custom made garments that will last and stand the test of time.

Since all our products are custom made, we will adjust your measurement profile according to your preferences. We love to pay attention to details and we are working with around 50 different measurement points to create the perfect fit for your suit.

How to wear it

We cannot enhance the versatility of a dark brown suit enough. The flannel suit is easy to match with both formal and casual garments and depending on how you style it, you will have a suit that works for many occasions.

Casual – Do you want to wear a full suit without looking too formal? Leave the shirt in the closet and swap it for knitwear instead. This will create a relaxed, yet elegant, look that is perfect for casual and semi-formal occasions. The brown wool cashmere polo paired with your dark brown suit will create a tonal look that we just love.

Formal – Can you wear a men’s brown suit with a tie? Of course, you can. If you are going for a formal look, pair your dark brown suit with a crisp white shirt and an untipped flannel tie. Wear your suit with the white oxford flannel shirt. Both the dark brown suit and the shirt have a brushed surface that harmonizes well with each other. With a taupe flannel tie, you are taking your outfit to the next level.

Wear the suit in separates

The jacket – As mentioned earlier, you can easily wear the jacket from your dark brown suit with other garments. Wear your flannel jacket with a soft grey flannel shirt and beige moleskin trousers for a smart casual look. The different texture of the garments aligns well with each other and creates a conscious look.

The trousers – Few garments are as comfortable as a pair of well fitted flannel trousers. The dark brown flannel is not an exception. Wear the trousers with The Sestriere pure cashmere polo in off white for a casual and comfortable look. Then you’re ready to light up the fireplace and enjoy a cozy time with your loved ones.

Standard garment care but also some useful personal tips

If you take proper care of your Blugiallo products, they will last longer and keep their nice attributes. You will increase the lifespan of your wool garments by letting them “rest” in-between uses. Leaving your garments on a proper hanger for at least 24 hours when you have worn them will give the fibers the chance to recover.

The best way to keep your dark brown suit fresh is to air it out or steam it. This will get rid of odors and increase the lifespan of the fabric. Try to keep dry cleaning to a minimum but you are supposed to use and live in your garments as much as possible and sometimes accidents happen. If your garments are or feel dirty you can, of course, leave them to the dry cleaner.

Men’s brown suit is an underrated garment. It handles the transition in-between different formalities great and is easy to match and wear with other garments. As you may have guessed, the Blugiallo team love earthy tones and a dark brown suit is not an expectation. Create your measurement profile, chose your design and get ready to love your new suit.
